Det bærer vægten af vores veje, broer og tunneler. Det gemmer sig under os i fundamenter og over os i lofter. Det adskiller etager, afgrænser rum, skaber hjem og byer. Næst efter vand, er beton mest anvendte materiale på jorden. Samtidig anslås det, at den globale cementproduktion alene bidrager til omkring 7 % af verdens totale CO2-udledning.
Den 2. maj tager h2h_archiving det grå materiale under behandling i Christianshavns Beboerhus. Gennem en række tværfaglige og æstetiske formater reflekterer vi over, hvordan vi forholder os til beton som både arv, nutidig tilstedeværelse og fremtidig aktør. Oplev blandt andet en scenografi af Agnes Rahbek og Siri Viola, filmen Concrete and Care af forskningsgruppen THEMA, smagen af beton med Amalie og Floras Middage, en samtale mellem betonteknolog Jennifer Anette Canul Polanco og materialeekspert Tina Sundstrup, værker af Lotte Nijstens, Julius Lagoutte Larsen og ChristoWer Larsen, koncert med det dreamy shoegazeband Sunchaser, sophie-lou’s æteriske lydunivers – og meget mere... It carries the weight of our roads, bridges, and tunnels. It hides beneath us in foundations and above us in ceilings. It separates floors, defines spaces, and shapes homes and cities. After water, concrete is the most widely used material on Earth. At the same time, global cement production alone is estimated to contribute around 7% of the world’s total CO₂ emissions.
On May 2, h2h_archiving will give centre stage to this grey matter at Christianshavns Beboerhus. Through a series of interdisciplinary and aesthetic formats, we will reflect on how we relate to concrete both as heritage, as current presence, and as a future actor.
