Line up 11/4: Soap Horse / Music by Idiot / Mary Ane's Polar Rig

Soap Horse

The band Soap Horse is a unique amalgamation of country and experimental rock from the Copenhagen underground. With Hans Gustav Björklund Moulvad as singer, guitarist and songwriter, Soap Horse moves undisturbed between grandiose orchestral arrangements and minimalist country-flavored spaces. In an eclectic and intense universe, pedal steel, violins and saxophones swirl around lyrics that are at once surreal and sensitive. Soap Horse's music feels like a continuously expanding and collapsing pulse outside of time and place. Soap Horse is based between London and Copenhagen, where Hans Gustav has collaborated with John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding) and Mikko Gordon (The Smile, IDLES). These collaborations have resulted in the debut EP 'Tooth Inside A Tooth' which was released in 2025.

Soap Horse opened as a solo artist for The Raveonettes on their US tour in 2024 and has since performed throughout Europe and the UK, including as support for Elias Rønnenfeldt, Baby In Van and Alan Sparhawk (Low). Soap Horse also debuted at Roskilde Festival in 2025, with a star-studded band from the Copenhagen alternative scene to a cavalcade of critical acclaim.

Music by Idiot (Anders Rex)

Under the name Music By Idiot, Anders Rex presents an intimate and stripped-down version of the band Music By Idiots. As a soloist, he reinterprets songs from the back catalogue, the debut album Tiden Lyver (2022) as well as brand new material from the upcoming album. It is music created in the present, carried by the realization: Yes everything is falling – and in the fall we live The shift to the Danish mother tongue has been an artistic revelation for Rex. By removing the linguistic filters, both voice and lyrics have blossomed into a deeply personal universe that moves in emotional overdrive. The songs revolve around desire, desperation and the longing to find a foothold in a world with “thin and holey skin” – a world where the fall is not the end, but the very lifeblood:

Yes everything is falling – and in the fall we kiss.

Yes everything is falling – and in the fall we love.

The solo concept is constantly evolving and has already taken Rex past everything from churches and galleries to established venues. Audiences can expect a musical space that is both contrapuntal and contradictory – a vocal experience that balances between the quiet, the bare and the dramatic.

Mary Anne’s Polar Rig (Duo)

Mary Annes Polar Rig...and the Sound of Speed is a cross projectional art piece displaying the world building created by the two main characters and creators:

Fast Malin Hofvander & Filthy Harald Ingvarsson.

This is a story told through both music and comics, with the two different formats representing different parts of a puzzle, complementing and enhancing the depths of each other's subliminal messaging. It’s a friend-adventure without end - an intergalactic space rock saga about fate, hope and love. A psychedelic journey exploring the vastness of space, hearts and souls through time, time and time again.

Following it is, as always and in true MAPR-fashion, a wild live show. A virtuose explosion of chaos cut up by rays of nostalgia, punchy songwriting and catchy one-liners.

Mary Anne’s Polar Rig take their name from a mining-station (now hotel) on the Arctic island of Svalbard, an identification that implies a little bit of toughness, an ability to take a few knocks and keep on rolling. You can certainly hear some of that in their sound – the guitar duo Malin Hofvander & Harald Ingvarsson serve up rough-and-tumble rock and roll that can handle anything the world has to throw at it.

After having recalibrated to a two-piece (joined by 2 more people for live concerts) Mary Anne’s Polar Rig signed with Stockholm label Rama Lama Records and swam into more experimental waters for the follow-up album 'Makes You Wonder' (March 2023). The sound was more complex, mature and heavy, with melodies and sharp refrains striking through in places like lightning bolts. Some songs skid and roll chaotically, like an out-of-control dirt bike, while others are carefully nursed and layered into something crashing and grand, like towering prog pyramids, taking Mary Anne’s Polar Rig's music onto a level beyond anything they’ve ever done before.
