Karayagini Band – Greek Rebetiko music

“Vi er glade for at kunne annoncere en koncert med det traditionelle græske musikband, Karayagini Band, fredag den 31. januar. 

Karayagini-bandet med base i København spiller rebetiko, en genre af traditionel græsk musik, der udtrykker de græske flygtninges kamp i Piræus, der flygtede fra Lilleasien i 1920’erne, og består af sange om barske forhold, stofmisbrug og kærlighed. Defineret af unikke melodiske strukturer og instrumentering. Kom, tag dine venner med og få en hyggelig tid fyldt med musik i centrum af byen!

Christian Sylvest Simonsen på guitar og lavta, Thanos Kandylas på cello og Maria Papadimitraki på bouzouki spiller udvalgte sange af den “græske blues”, som rebetiko er blevet karakteriseret.

“We are pleased to announce a concert with the Greek traditional music band, Karayagini Band, on Friday 31st of January. 

Karayagini band, based in Copenhagen, plays rebetiko, a genre of traditional Greek music expressing the struggle of Greek refugees in Piraeus that fled Asia Minor in 1920s and consists of songs about harsh conditions, drug abuse and love. Defined by unique melodic structures and instrumentation. Come along, bring your friends and have a cozy time full of music in the center of the city!

Christian Sylvest Simonsen on the guitar and lavta, Thanos Kandylas on cello and Maria Papadimitraki on bouzouki play selected songs of the “Greek blues” as rebetiko has been characterized.
